Timetable for Voting for June 23, 2020 Primary Election
By May 22, 2020 an online portal to allow voters to request an absentee ballot will be available. This is easier and saves you a step in mailing in a request for an absentee ballot. At the same time, the State Board of Elections will mail every registered voter a postcard to explain the changes to the June 23, 2020 primary election. You have to make a request through the online portal by June 15, 2020. Clerks must mail ballots no later than June 16, 2020.
You will also be able to call the Clerk’s office to schedule an in person appointment between now and Primary Election Day if you prefer to vote that way. Appointments will be available from at least June 8, 2020 through June 22, 2020.
If you prefer to vote by mail, you may do so and return your ballot at any time before June 23. 2020. All ballots that are mailed in must be postmarked no later than June 23, 2020.
On June 23, 2020 (Primary Election Day) there will be in person voting by dropping off ballots at designated polling locations. (These have not yet been announced.)
I am sure additional guidance will be forthcoming and I will update you as I learn more. Please, as always, do not hesitate to contact me with questions or concerns at my office or via email at Maria.Sorolis@lrc.ky.gov. We will get through this together!
